What are the benefits of daycare?

There are many benefits to sending your dog to the right daycare; socialization, mental stimulation, exercise. Daycares can be a helpful solution to curbing destructive behaviors that develop out of boredom, or separation anxiety. A regular daycare routine can also help shy dogs build confidence. However not all daycares fit all dogs, and it is important to evaluate your dogs needs carefully when considering where they spend their day. We hope this FAQ will offer some insight to things to consider when choosing the appropriate services for your pup.

What style daycare is Hang Around Hound?

We are a non-aversive, open play facility. This means we use reward positive (R+) or pain-free and fear-free methods of handling and dogs spend most of their day in a play group instead of kenneled.

What are the requirements for my dog?

All dogs are required to have vaccinations for:
• Rabies
• DHPP

• Bordetella

We strongly advised dogs to also have the following vaccinations but they are not required for attendance.

• Leptospirosis

• Canine Influenza

All dogs should be neutered or spayed by 12 months of age. Some exemptions will be considered for breeder restrictions or health reasons but all dogs MUST be altered by 24 months of age. If behavior related issues start to occur, we may request a dog take a break from daycare until a neuter or spay can be performed.

All dogs are required to be on a flea or tick repellent regiment.

We have no breed or size restrictions at this time.

How do we get started?

Welcome to Hang Around Hound!

The first step is to set up a profile for you and your pup!

• Click the "Sign Up" Link in the top right corner of the home page. (This link will be unavailable if we are not currently accepting new clients.)

• Please use your full name for your account username and a regularly checked email address.

• Fill out the profile for yourself

• Click the "Pets" tab in the navigation bar to add a pet.

• Fill out one profile per pet.

• Request a Meet and Greet. These can be made online and a confirmation e-mail should arrive within 24 hours. If we are unable to accommodate the chosen meet and greet time or date we will call or email you to reschedule.

• If you would like to have a pre-Meet and Greet conversation please feel free to give us a call.

What is a Meet and Greet?

A Meet and Greets is an opportunity for us to get together and see if we are a good fit for each other. We clear the play floor and welcome you and your dog into our facility to take a look (and a sniff) around. After a chat about your dog's specific needs and behaviors. Then we will introduce a few of our helper dogs to your dog to observe dog on dog behavior. We are primarily looking for aggression towards us or our dogs. Meet and Greets also give your dog the experience of leaving the daycare with you. We believe this helps the dog understand you will come back for them and helps mitigate first day anxiety.

Meet and Greets are about 30-60 minutes long.

Does my dog need to be kennel trained?

No. During the day dogs will spend most of their time in a playgroup. If a dog needs a break but does not like being in a kennel we have can move them to one of several other play spaces we have avalible where they can enjoy the company of a smaller set of dogs or by themselves if they prefer. During overnights dogs that have kennel aversions

What is your Cancelation Policy?

At this time we do not have a cancelation policy. If you need to cancle a stay for whatever reason just let us know and we will remove it from the calender. There are no fees for canceling a service at Hang Around Hound.

How do I Cancel / Edit my service request?

Before a service has been confirmed by Hang Around Hound you can edit or cancel the service by visiting the Schedule tab and locating your requested service, OR by visiting the Pets tab, selecting a pet that is included in the service, scrolling down to the Upcoming Appointments section all the way at the bottom, and selecting service by clicking on the date.

Once a service has been confirmed only Hang Around Hound Staff will be able to alter or cancel, please call/text or email us with any change requests.
